I recently had the opportunity to make images of a stunning, custom, private residence for David K. Warfel Lighting Design. David, a lighting architect based in Bloomington, IL, worked with lead architect John Shafer & Associates of Springfield, IL to design the layers and direction of light throughout the home. After shooting rooms that reflect the expertise of a lighting designer, I think everyone should do so! The effect is gorgeous in person. Further, I think you will agree that the resulting images are more interesting, with more depth, contrast, highlights and shadows than flat-lit spaces.

This home is a gem, set on 30 rolling acres with a barn, animals galore, swimming hole, and a huge garden. The owners, who were more than gracious hosts (thank you!), have created an absolutely idyllic childhood setting for their four boys. See for yourself, and enjoy!
